HOL CHAN & SHARK RAY ALLEY
- Full Day Boat Trip
Experience the beauty of the Belize Barrier Reef ecosystem with Ambergris Caye’s most popular snorkeling excursion! A scenic 15-minute boat ride from Mahogany Bay brings you to Hol Chan Marine Reserve, a very special part of the largest living barrier reef on the planet. A professional Belizean marine guide will point out lots of cool stuff underwater while making sure that everyone is safe and comfortable. After a 45-minute snorkel session, you’ll hop back in the boat for another five minutes south to another part of the reserve, Shark Ray Alley, which is a haven for nurse sharks and southern stingrays. Jump in and get up close and personal! It’s a truly memorable experience and an absolute do-not-miss for any trip to Ambergris Caye.
MEXICO ROCKS MARINE RESERVE
- Half-Day Boat Trip
Mexico Rocks is a remarkable area of the reef where anglers historically have come to clean their catch. Over the years, marine life has grown accustomed to gathering here for their daily scraps. Snorkelers enjoy calm, shallow turquoise waters making for easier up-close exploration of huge brain coral formations, sea plants, and an array of sea life that call these corals home. Green sea turtles are frequently spotted here, as well as eels, nurse sharks, and stingrays. Particularly lucky groups will get to see a dolphin or manatee, as they are found anywhere in the seas surrounding Ambergris Caye. This snorkel trip also gives a great scenic view of San Pedro Town and the many beautiful beach homes adorning the shoreline. Beginner snorkelers welcome.
BLUE HOLE DIVE OR SNORKEL
- Full-Day Boat Trip
This full-day dive trip to Lighthouse Reef Atoll and the Great Blue Hole is truly an iconic Belize experience. This dive will bring you to a maximum of 130 feet into the sinkhole surrounded by stalactites and stalagmites. Observe graceful bull and reef sharks gliding through the deep blue water. Afterward, you’ll continue on to Half Moon Caye, UNESCO World Heritage Site. There you’ll take a stroll to the red-footed booby bird sanctuary where you can marvel at these peculiar creatures and the picturesque surroundings from a treetop observation tower. Next, a succulent picnic lunch will be served on the beach. The next two dives — Half Moon Wall and “the Aquarium” — are nothing short of spectacular and unique in themselves. Although it’s geared toward divers, this trip is open to snorkelers, too. The boat ride itself is half of the fun, as you’ll get to see all of Belize’s shades of blue and dozens of tiny postcard-perfect islands along the way.
CATAMARAN SAIL & SNORKEL
- Full-Day Catamaran Sailing Trip
Catch the morning breeze in your sails and enjoy the leisurely voyage to the Belize Barrier Reef for a morning swim. Your first snorkel stop is Hol Chan Marine Reserve, and the second is Shark Ray Alley — two of Belize’s most popular snorkeling sites. Near lunchtime, you’ll arrive at the charming little island of Caye Caulker. Think San Pedro Town 30 years ago — the island theme is “Go Slow.” For approximately two hours, you’ll have the chance to go exploring, shopping, and have lunch on your own. Late in the afternoon, you’ll sail back to Ambergris Caye while enjoying complimentary rum punch, local beers, fresh ceviche, music, and most importantly the gorgeous scenery at sunset.
BARRIER REEF DIVE
- Half-Day Boat Trip
The Belize Barrier Reef is one of the world’s wonders, and Ambergris Caye is blessed to have such spectacular geography in its own backyard. A quick boat ride brings you to one of over 50 local dive sites just on the other side of the reef that runs parallel to Ambergris Caye. Explore the reef’s coral canyons, old sailboat wrecks, undersea gardens and tunnels, and abundant marine animal and plant life. The experienced local divemasters at our resident pro dive shop always put your safety and comfort first, and are a host of information about Belize! They will guide you underwater and point out everything there is to see along the way. These open water multi-level dives typically range from 40–80 feet.
