Our Story

Ready, Set, Build

Entrepreneurial jetsetters, Robert Helms and Beth Clifford, finally began to realize their dreams of creating better lives — not only for the people of Belize, but for all who venture into these fruitful lands. The makeup of the village, its layout along the series of sea canals, and the New Urbanism concept were all set to pave the way for construction.

Construction Begins

Mahogany Bay Village put together a world-class team of architects, woodworkers, and artisans to build the foundation of its luxury island village. Nearly every material and type of wood was produced or harvested in Belize, and handcrafted to perfection by Belizean craftsmen.

Finish and Furnish

Various sections of the resort, homes, and village came to life during this stage. All doors, windows, and countertops were finished with none other than Mahogany wood, sustainably-harvested from Belizean forests. The builders insured that all woods used in the foundations, flooring, and exteriors were impervious to insects, water damage, and wind storms.

The Final Touches

Our internationally-renowned designers, Amanda Lindroth and Julia Starr Sanford finalized the interiors with British colonial-style detailing and furnishings. No detail was overlooked — from the homey hardwood beams to the charming and traditional door latches.
