Mahogany Bay Resort is in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, one of Belize's islands. You’ll find that Belizeans use these terms interchangeably, most often referring to the whole island as San Pedro.
Because of Belize’s small size, the only international airport, Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE), is located on the mainland. You will take an international flight into Belize City and then travel to San Pedro.
Getting to Belize City
There are about a dozen airlines that service BZE. Below is a snapshot of current airlines and direct flight cities from North America:

Getting to Mahogany Bay Resort
After you arrive at BZE, there are two options for traveling over to San Pedro, where Mahogany Bay Resort is located.
There are several daily flights from BZE to the San Pedro Airport. These domestic flights are around 12–15 minutes long and offer incredible views of Belize's stunning turquoise water and mangrove cayes. Keep an eye out the window to catch a glimpse of the marine life below in the shallow waters. Often, you may be able to score the copilot seat with the best view in the house if you ask! Because of the convenience and the wonderful photo-op, flying is the preferred way to travel to Mahogany Bay Resort in San Pedro.
Maya Island Air and Tropic Air are the two domestic Belizean airlines that offer flights to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. You'll find that these airlines are incredibly friendly and accommodating. If your international flight arrives late, they will often wait for you or automatically put you on the next available flight. It's that simple!
As you fly into San Pedro's only airport (John Greif II Airport - SPR), your journey getting to Mahogany Bay Resort is almost over. If you have been in touch with our reservations team and they reserved a taxi cab for you, your local driver will be waiting for you. Or, you may just hop into any cab waiting at the baggage claim area and ask to go to Mahogany Bay Resort. The cab ride from the airport to Mahogany Bay Resort is around 10 minutes.
The other option for getting to Mahogany Bay Resort from the international airport (BZE) is by water taxi. (The terms water taxi and ferry are used interchangeably in Belize.) There are regular daily trips between Belize City and San Pedro as this is the most common way for locals to travel between the cayes. From BZE, you will need to catch a taxi cab to the water taxi terminal in Belize City. The cab ride from BZE to the water taxi terminal is about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic and is typically a $25USD cab fare (for 1-2 people, plus $5 for every additional passenger). Although this option is a bit cheaper than flying, it requires at least two hours longer travel time.
Getting to Mahogany Bay Resort from Caye Caulker
It's easy to get to Mahogany Bay Resort from our sister island Caye Caulker. Just hop on one of the frequent boat trips to San Pedro from the Caye Caulker water taxi dock. The same two local water taxi companies service the two islands. Again, all boats stop at sundown.
From the water taxi dock in San Pedro any waiting cab can get you to Mahogany Bay Resort, or if you have arranged a cab with our reservations team in advance, he or she will be waiting for you there.
